A shift from the vertical lines in the paintings and drawings in Categories 3 and 4 occurred with this series and involved another way of meticulously applying the medium. The works in black predate those in color. Dating after all the works in this category, number 11 looks ahead to horizontal lines with gestural effects in Category 6.
