Lead pencil on paper (12 selections, with number 2 also having white pastel)
The closed forms and the areas of white, with lighter lines and shadings, bear comparison with forms of the large canvases (1, 2) in Category 13, dating in the same or preceding year.
Wardy’s paintings on canvas and works on paper typically share some stylistic characteristics when stylistic timespans are sequential or overlap somewhat. These works on paper are independent works, not studies.
Although with many differences, the works in both Categories 14 and 15 have accentuated forms dispersed and seeming to move within the composition. Category 15 was begun soon after 14.
