In the heading for Category 3, a quotation from Wardy conveys his appreciation of line when he was creating paintings and drawings during the mid-1970s and is relevant here, i.e., “My work is about line—lines on lines—lines next to lines—lines under lines—one line is not enough—enough is many.”
